Vintage Artisan Mature Lady Doll

Doll is signed and dated.
A sitter, she sits about 12" tall and is about 22 laid out. See photos for clarification. This doll was found at an estate full of a variety of spectacular vintage soft sculpture, one-of-kind whimsical art and dolls.
Please look at photos for condition. There was a layer of grunge and dust I gently cleaned, and the hair is cleaned and restyled as well the natural cotton allowed. You may decide to further revive her or leave her in a state of perfect imperfection. Color inconsistencies, discoloration, light stains found due to age and general manner of keeping, but do not diminish the character or uniqueness of this handmade woman with her velvet mauve cap, sweatervest over a polka dot top and matching shoes. Hand on her hip, velvet short skirt. She holds a photo of her son... or an old flame. She'll is divine, sassy and will steal your heart.
Barbara Johansen Newman is the artist. If you are as enamoured by this edgy, elderly beauty as I am, I would recommend doing a quick search of her online. Her dolls are works of art reflecting her interest in puppet creating and soft-sculpture. She no longer makes dolls and works exclusively as an illustrator and painter.
Her dolls are stuffed with polyester fiber fill and their faces are made by needle modeling. They have hand painted, inset, movable eyes. Hair is made of assorted natural and synthetic fibers and is sewn on. Most surfaces and decorations are embroidered  or quilted by hand. The clothes are all specifically made and dyed or painted by the artist.
Please note that this is a collectible interior toy and work of art.  It is not intended as a plaything for young children.
