    Description

    Description:
This auction is for a lovely artist made "Madonna and Child" Doll figure by NIADA artist Halle Blakeley in slightly displayed condition. This early artist made dolls mostly in the 1940s to 1960s being of ceramic and high fired clay.
Halle Blakeley was known for her Historical Portraits, Royalty and Madonnas.
Signed on the back of her shoulder head with a year that is faint, could be "1956", see photo.  She measures 16" tall not including her stand, being a ceramic shoulder head with cloth body torso, her arms and legs are ceramic also, she has line crack repair on the left hand "middle finger", I have shown an arrow in my photo. You may wish to put a ring on that finger as the line is visible or do further restoration. Doll is stitch jointed at the shoulders and legs, her child is all ceramic being one piece. Her stand goes into the cloth body torso but can be removed, she is also secured with a thin piece of wire at her waist, I can package her secure as she is without removing her from her stand.  Both Madonna and Child have great hand painted faces with strawberry blonde mohair wigs.  The Madonna is costumed in pink with elaborate blue satin cape with black lace overlay, velvet side panels with gold braid and applied "jewels".  She wears gold sandals on her feet.  Child wears a pink wrap with gold and beaded crown on his head.  There are two pages from Doll News about this artist that are included. One is "In Memoriam Halle Blakeley" 1901 to 1981, and photos of Miss "LA" and Mary Queen of Scots. I have taken plenty of photos, please look at my photos to serve as part of this description.  Offering as is with no reserve auction, thank you for Looking in.
