Susanna — Handmade Doll Wearing Victorian Outfit.
I made Susanna in the late 1980’s when I found G.P Jones’ book “An Easy-to-Make Godey Doll” in a local bookstore. I have always been fascinated by period costumes so this gave me an opportunity to make one along with the doll. The clothing in the book is copied from actual items in Godey’s, a fashion magazine of the time. The doll is about 22 inches tall with embroidered facial feature and will come with a stand. She is wearing a day dress which consists of a voluminous skirt and fitted jacket. Under the jacket is a chemisette. She is also wearing a boned corset, pantalettes and a petticoat. She has been displayed in my smoke free, dog friendly home for many years. I no longer have room to display large dolls so I thought someone else might like her.
There is a small stain on the side of her neck.
