    Description

Are your parts wedged a few thou even though you made nice softjaws?  If you need parallelism on your side 2+ milling, then you might solve some problems by using a jaw spacer like this one.
Jaw lift can affect your part to around 0.005" error where the moving jaw on your vise lifts up.  It is especially a problem when you clamp a part high above the moving jaw carrier.  The typical angle lock vises do well in terms of sucking the part downwards when you have a part clamped below the jaw carrier height.  If you can't do that, then you will get jaw lift.
I probed out a set of jaws with this spacer installed just below the floor of the softjaw pocket vs. having the spacer upside down where the angle lock can pull down when it is clamped low.  The difference in the shown case (in the above photos) was about 0.004"
If you use this spacer your softjaw will be milled in a state similar to when you have a part clamped in your softjaws and the softjaw pocket will be milled flat under those similar conditions.  When you clamp your part it will sit flat in the vise because the pocket floor is flat under the similar softjaw strain.
Included is the spacer, 6061 aluminum, black anodized, and two stainless steel set screws.
The spacer is 1.000" across making it easy to put into your cad/cam software when programming your softjaw cuts.  The screws are 3.25" apart (fits most 6" or 4" vises)
