Sir Walter Raleigh Historical Artist Doll by Kathy Redmond Molded Porcelain 15"

Description

Up for auction is a wonderful Sir Walter Raleigh historical doll by the talented, American doll artist, Kathy Redmond. This comes from her series of historical dolls. Sir Walter Raleigh is a limited edition, hand sculpted and hand painted porcelain doll. His upper arms and torso are made of stuffed cloth.
His face is AMAZING and has such expression. his collar and shoulder-plate are porcelain also and detailed. I love his hands that have gold painted rings.
His legs are sculpted with muscles and there is a design painted on his 'stockings.' His shoes are yellow and gold porcelain.
The costume is magnificent - a gold lame' brocade jacket with buttons that have a man on a horse. His bloomers/pants are olive and bronze brocade. His cape has the same gold lining as the jacket and the outer cape is a very dark navy blue (which looks almost black). He has a strip of faux leopard fur at the top of his cape.
Signed on back of shoulder-plate - 'Sir Walter Raleigh.' There is also a cat with an R in the middle of it that is Miss Redmond's signature.
He is a beautiful doll and a lovely piece of art!

Condition:
Tiny loss/scrape to his front ankle( barely noticeable) and a tiny rough spot on his inner calf which I believe happened when being made (also barely noticeable). Mostly great condition!
This auction is for Sir Walter Raleigh only. Queen Elizabeth is for sale in a separate auction. I am including the pic of the two, side by side to show you how great they look together. Sir Walter Raleigh was an English statesman and one time suitor of the Queen.
