    Description

1992 13” Gretchen Lima Mixed Media Cloth Jewelry Pottery OOAK Native American Woman Doll
Here’s a fabulous signed and dated 1992 Gretchen Lima OOAK southwest Native American woman doll. Perfection in doll-making—you will love her! In addition to the “Copyright 1989 Gretchen Lima” cloth label on the bottom, the doll is personally signed and dated in silver paint or marker “Gretchen Lima, ‘92” vertically on the back (see closeup photos). The doll stands 13 inches tall and has a stuffed cloth body in western sunset shades of pink and blue. Her wonderful face is hand painted and includes a Native American design of Kokopelli and mythical fertility deity often represented as a hunchbacked flute player out of the ancient beliefs of the native people from the Southwest--perhaps this doll is a midwife. The doll’s hair is black wool in long braids; her righthand braid ends in a gorgeous gold and blue real feather. On her head is a fantastic hand-loomed headdress containing vibrantly colored feather on the top and on the end of one braid. Across her shoulders and around her neck is a hand-loomed shawl/blouse in colors that go perfectly with the fabric of her body/skirt. Each hand has a lovely Indian-motif jewelry piece including metal feather charm and metal lizard charm on her left hand as well as an ornate painted wooden oblong bead; on her right wrist is a bead ball decorated with a metal feather charm, a butterfly charm and a snake charm. There is also a Native-American-esque jewelry piece hanging from her righthand braid. In her arms sits a Native pottery piece with a painting of an antelope (or perhaps a bison). No damage, no dust, no odors, from a non-smoking home. Priority Mail shipping weight carefully packaged is 2 lbs.
