Description
What a wonderful and beautiful find! This is a very rare original Teapot with Warming Stand and original burner. It was made by Franziska HIRSCH between 1894 and 1896 in Dresden. The makers marks are clear and for those who are not familiar with them, they were only used for 2 years and then changed due to a conflict with Meissen, which owned the rights to the “crossed swords”. This piece was done in the “Blue Onion” style of Meissen. The warming tray and teapot have metal attachments which I believe to be Nickel Plated. The condition is amazing for the age and use. There are 3 areas shown in the last two pictures that have some issues. Noted are 2 small chips to the teapot opening of which only one is seen with the lid in place. Also one of the hinged pins which holds the handle in place has been bent sometime in the lifetime of this piece. It holds okay, but may be addressed by the new owner. Other than that, the condition is amazing. There are no cracks or scratches that I can find and the nickel plating is almost perfect! The burner and wick do not appear to have been used. The pot stands about 14 inches tall with the handle upright. The teapot alone is about 6 inches in diameter. My wife believes the teapot holds about 4 cups, but we did not try it.Always happy to answer questions and or add photos.
