Description
Up for auction is one of Kathy Redmond's molded porcelain historical dolls. This one is Queen Elizabeth 1 of England. American doll artist, Kathy Redmond, made different versions of Queen Elizabeth during various periods of Elizabeth's life. This amazing doll is a mature version of the Queen. Her head, shoulder plate, lower arms and legs are made of porcelain. Her body and upper parts of legs and arms are stuffed cloth.
The painting of her face is exquisite, as is the detail that went into the 'jewels' that adorn her. Her ruffled porcelain collar has so much detail. Her hands are beautifully sculpted and have rings.
Her dress is a knock-out; a mix of gold brocade and gold lame,' and beautiful beading on her bodice. Under her dress she has a slip and pantaloons - both with gold lace trim.
Her shoes are painted porcelain with a red bead.
She comes with her original gold tag which reads 'Redmond." On the inside it reads, "Queen Elizabeth 1 of England, limited edition figures in fine porcelain, individually painted and sculpted."
This doll is truly a beautiful piece of art!
Size: 15"
Condition: One tiny bead is missing from her hair. The sculpting on one leg has a slight indentation and is original to doll (see last two pics). The handmade wooden stand has some discoloration on the wood. Mostly great condition!

Auction is for Elizabeth only. I have included a photo of Sir Walter Raleigh up for sale in a separate auction. They look great together. He was in her court and was a suitor at one point.
