    Description

Helena was the successor to the company started by her father, originally under the name of L. Meyer & Sohne in 1843....The Crown Dresden is porcelain produced by outside decorator Helena Wolfsohn, in Dresden in the 1870s..Wolfsohn is not a porcelain factory but a painting studio that decorated externally bought porcelain...She originally used the Meissen Royal factory mark on her products, in particular a variation of the Meissen AR (Augustus Rex) mark..Following a lawsuit brought by the Meissen company, she was forced to drop the AR mark and started to use a crown with ‘D’ scripted beneath..Her work was typically decorated with pastoral scenes, inspired by the French artist Antoine Watteau and interspersed with panels of flowers....This gorgeous piece is prior to the lawsuit..
For your consideration I am offering you this exquisite, rare, showcase quality, hand-painted Watteau style "Courting Couple" - Quatrefoil Porcelain Double Handled Cup and Saucer Set for Display manufactured by one of the Dresden Porcelain Factories under Helena Wolfsohn Dresden.. Made in Dresden, Germany... circa 1879...
This lovely porcelain piece is made of a high grade of porcelain, beautifully decorated late 19th century porcelain in white, decorated with a romantic pastoral hand painted in fine detail panels on both the lobed saucer and cup..The opposite panels are decorated with gold and pink rose buds..The detail work is very fine and the hands of a master painter shows their highest artistic quality on this very fine piece - worthy for display..
Bottom Back stamp marked in blue on the bottom the cursive "AR" mark - the AR monogram (Meissen's Augustus Rex) on early wares is often under the glaze where the mark was applied prior to the firing..This Augustus Rex (AR) mark was used for a very short period of time (1879-1881) as Meissen took them to court over imitating their trademark.
    Approximate measurements are:
The display cup is 3 inches by 2 inches top lobed shaped rim with a 1.5 inch base diameter... holds approximately
The display quatrefoil lobed saucer is 5 3/8 inches by 4 7/8 inches top rim with a 2 7/8 inch base diameter...
Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent with age and ownership...very nice, antique and pre-owned condition with 90% gold intact - free of chips, cracks, hairlines, possibly some fleabites along the rims of the saucer and cup..... Any other imperfections would be craft related only..
NOW INCLUDING  INSURANCE with Priority or UPS shipping quote..(
international bidders-expect additional custom fees plus can only insure Priority
)..I cannot see what your shipping quote says and by bidding, you are accepting that shipping price!!! Plus I do not pre pack due to combined ship specials, last minute questions and picture requests, So please be patient if requesting an updated invoice..When the price of stamp went up, so did the rest of shipping prices so leaving low feedback scores only effects my selling rating with ebay..
Comes from a smoke-free home, but we do have pets in our household, so there might be some fly away pet hair, so I am apologizing in advance..
I do take most of the photos outdoors to catch the natural coloring on each item I am selling, so there might be some sun shadows...Any additional info needed or other photos, please do not hesitate to email me....If there are any imperfections that I see, will list them, BUT I am only human and might miss some...plus something may be of insignificent to me, may be of great importance to you, so if you have doubts or questions, PLEASE email me PRIOR to bidding...If I missed something major, again please email me prior to leaving a negative feedback..
