    Description

Dresden Hand Painted Wilhelm I Portrait Gold & Jeweled Empire Form Cup & Saucer
Absolutely stunning and fabulously beautiful Royal Vienna style empire style porcelain cup and saucer with three claw feet and relief molded handle. With a very well hand painted portrait of Wilhelm I framed in small blue enameled jewels over a gold gilt panel with fancy scrollwork corners. Mostly gold background with crimson red and raised gold gilt cross vignettes framed in gold beading and blue and gilt beaded panels. The center of the saucer has a raised gilt medallion. The inside of the cup, handle of the cup, and the feet of the cup are gilded. Marked on the bottom with a gold cross under Dresden in blue. I've held a bright light up to this and there does not seem to be anything under the cross, but it was probably decorated by one of the leading studios in Dresden Germany , such as Helena Wolfsohn, Donath, Ambrosius Lamm, etc, considering the overall high quality of the decoration. Also marked Geseltzlich Geschultzt for registered. Probably circa 1890s. This is by far the finest Dresden cup and saucer I have ever had.The cup is signed by the artist D Bally or D Bolly.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks or wear.
The cup measures approximately 4 inches wide including the handle x 4 3/4 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 6 1/4 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
