Nelson was an honorary starter for many years and attended the Masters for decades for the champions dinner and to talk with pros about playing in his Dallas tournament.
Mr Nelson won 52 PGA Tour Events, including 5 Majors.
Won 11 consecutive tour events in 1945. The one Golf record that will never be matched or beaten.
Mr Nelson was the most humble and genuine Golf Legend in the history of the game. Lived his life by the good book and always wondered why he was so famous. In his words, all he ever did was play good golf and win a few tournaments. Other people have done much more and should be the famous ones. An example of the priorities he lived his life was stepping away from the limelight at the top of his game to raise cattle and chickens on a farm north of Ft Worth.
Was a mentor and friend to many champion golfers, Ken Venturi and Tom Watson are just two of many impacted by his life. Hope there is another one like him in the future of the game. He was a true legend.
