Austrian Dresden Style Hand Painted Watteau Scene Blue & Gold Quatrefoil Cup
Pretty quatrefoil shaped tea cup and saucer. Nicely decorated with hand painted courting couple scenes, and flowers over blue panels. With gold gilt scrollwork framing each panel. Has a mark on the bottom which looks like either a smiley vase or a crescent moon and stars in a circle. I have not been able to find this mark in any reference book; however, the mark appears on pieces that are identical to Marx & Gutherz, Carlsbad, Austria forms and which are also decorated in a style that seems to be particular to Marx & Gutherz.
Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
The cup measures approximately 4 1/4 inches wide including the handle x 2 1/4 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 5 3/8 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
