Up for bid is a antique pair of steel clamp-on ice skates. They are marked "B&B" on the tab of the operating lever. On the top near the front, they have the marking: "Patented Feb. 12, 1884 Mar. 1, 1887 Aug. 12, 1890", and "11-1/2". Constructed entirely of steel, they have an overall length of 12-5/8 in. These skates may have had a very thin plating of nickel or chrome when new, but the passing of a century has left a finish of light rust. The blades are marked "Hardened". These skates are in excellent condition in spite of the rust, and all of the moving parts adjust as intended. I lubricated the screw mechanism that adjusts and clamps the skates to shoes or boots. These would be a fine addition to any collection of antique skates or sports equipment!
