Description
Adolph Hamann Dresden Hand Painted Courting Couple & Aqua Demitasse Cup & SaucerPretty porcelain miniature or demitasse cup & saucer. Decorated with hand painted quatrefoil panels depicting Renaissance courting couples and purple, blue, and orange flowers over an aqua background. With gold gilding scrollwork in between each panel and around the edge. Marked on the bottom with a blue star over Dresden. This is a decorating mark used by Adolph Hamann in Dresden Germany between 1866 and 1949. This cup is probably closer to the 1866 date, as it is the thicker porcelain you see with mid 19th century German pieces. It is also an earlier form with a ring handle.
Has a lot of significant wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. However, there is a long thick fold on in the glaze on the inside of the cup. This fold may possibly be mistaken in the pictures as a crack, but it is not.
The cup measures approximately 2 1/2 inches wide including the handle x 1 3/4 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 3 1/2 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
