Abigail Art Doll bust OOAK handcrafted handmade One of a kind art

Description

Abigail is all hand made and sculpted from paper clay which was laid over a chicken wire frame and then hand painted with acrylics. She has a head full of white wool hair and her top is blue lace to go with her deep blue eyes.
Her measurements are as follows:
Height: 6"
Width: 3"

I started creating dolls as of July 2010. Since I like to work with expressions, my pieces usually display a hint of sadness which is why I called them Melandollys. They are a reflection of how we are taught in society to hide our feelings. We are constantly surrounded with images of cheerful people in media and it conditions us to believe something is wrong when we feel otherwise. I juxtapose these undesirable feelings and expressions with dolls since they are normally thought of as smiling objects of play and confront the viewer with emotions that are normally reserved for the privacy of one’s home. This is my way of encouraging people to be more comfortable with their inner feelings and accept that we are not perfect.
My work has been shown in Art Doll Quarterly, exhibited in galleries in New York City, Canada, and New Orleans.
