You are looking at a very good condition pair of
Mens Size 9.5 (42 European) Mens Black Leather Figure Skates
with Sheffield Steel Blades.
Skates are marked on bottom:
BREVETTE S.G.D.G.
MADE IN FRANCE Other patent pending
US Patent application No.
42        8
Engraved on bottom ECN-1835
Shoe box bottom measures about 11-1/4" long x 4" wide.
Blades are marked 10-2/3
MADE IN ENGLAND
SHEFFIELD STEEL.
Back of each skate is marked 42 and 19.
Made of fabulous leather
that appears to be coated with a waterproofing material.
The ankle area of both sides of each skate about 1-12" diameter
are bowed out so ankle is cozily fit inside!
Almost everything on ebay made with the "S.G.D.G BREVETTE"
was made in the 1800s.
These skates do not look THAT old!
But I could find nothing about this brand in a search.
These seem to be far superior to most skates.
Blades need sharpening.
I will include a BERGHMAN SKATE SHARPENER with this pair of skates!
