    Description

This listing features an original Rene' porcelain doll fashioned to resemble the style of the "Little Women" signed and dated 1968. Rene' Harrison, a renowned doll artist, published in the National Institute of American Doll Artists (NIADA), created her own molds and clothed each doll with handmade garments. Her dolls donned period clothing right down to the pantaloons. This 9 inch doll has drop-waist dress over pantaloons.  Her head, arms and feet are porcelain and her body is stuffed cloth. She was hand painted and cured by the artist. .... Truly a one of a kind creation (OOAK).
"This doll is Marion Harding. She was the souvenir at a United Federation of Doll Clubs Region 12 convention held in Marion, Ohio, at the Harding Hotel. Your buyer might like this information. It was given be the Heart of Ohio Doll Club of which Rene was an associate member." -
    Collector information given.
The doll is in excellent condition. The signature found on the doll body reads "Rene' Orig 68." The cloth body has a few small rust spots and no attempt was made to remove them. The clothing has been washed.
Some years ago, my family acquired the remainder of her estate and I had the pleasure of speaking with her nephew who told me about her passion for making dolls from beginning to end. Rene' made dolls fashioned after celebrities and fictional characters in addition to those with unique personality. She created many dolls in the like of Presidents and their wives. She even sought out antique and vintage clothing to breakdown and make doll clothes as authentic as possible.
**Keep me bookmarked for future listings of Rene' dolls. We have several that we will present as time permits.
